Pride

Authors Note-
America has been through
a lot, both good and bad
and no matter what Americans
have stayed prideful of their country.

Throughout all of the ups and downs, the positive and the negatives, America has stayed a country of pride and independence. We’ve fought for what we believed in, and have won many battles. The least that I could say about my country is that I’m proud to be an American.
The Revolutionary War is the reason today, that we are a free country. Children all over the country are taught in schools about their forefathers, the plans that they had to make and the risks they had to take during this gruesome battle. Unfortunately, the price of freedom doesn’t come easily, 25,000 men and women had to die so that we could be free, and it was their way of showing pride to their country.
Today thousands of men and women are out in Iraq fighting for us, especially for those lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack on our country. Just the thought that there are people out there who would rather die than see us living in a free democracy breaks my heart, and also makes me proud of not only my country but the brave people in it. Those people on the airplanes, knowing that their time was almost up decided to save hundreds of more lives, and died heroes.
In the year 1969 America made an amazing breakthrough in the world of science. Apollo 11 landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. We were able to get there before the Russians did. We’ve also been one of the top countries in the world of medicine. Some countries can have devastating diseases like Malaria, and Chicken Pox. Many Americans can live longer happier lives because of the new vaccines and medications.
The Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day are all days meant to spend celebrating in different ways like going to see fireworks, or attending a parade. When I am celebrating I think of all of the battles we have won and the accomplishments, I can only hope that all Americans are as proud of their country as I am.
